Be the best you can, what does that mean to you? I just watched a program about a famous sushi chef who has been making sushi all his life,  everyday he tries to improve on what he did the day before trying to be the best he can be. Will you be average at many things or will you be the best you can at your choosen field. How many times do you read about people who have black belts in many things and who maybe good at all of them but not necessarily the best they can be in all of them.

One should take pride in what you do. It doesn’t matter what it is. Strive to improve your skills every time you train don’t accept anything but the best, be proud. When I was an uchi deshi I cleaned the toilets every day and every day I made sure that I cleaned them well. Every time you train you should focus on your weaknesses trying to eliminate them trying to be the best you can be. It’s hard as we all have our good days and bad days when we find it hard to concentrate and focus, never mind you can still try to improve.
